Dude, you made Little Spooky cry! You monster!

Do you enjoy this comic? Please read this. I need your help.

As you know, keeping this comic going is a full-time job for me, and I pay my artists a full rate, so creating this comic is only possible thanks to the very generous support of our Patrons. For me to pay for our artists, content delivery network, taxes, etc. (and, y’know, pay for rent, groceries, and keeping myself alive which also helps keep the comic going.), I need at least $7,000/month in support. Less than that, and I’m losing money and burning through my savings each month which I can only do for so long.

We were over $7,000/month of support for a good while. But it’s been six months since we dipped under that, and at the current level of support, I’m now more than $1000 in the red every month. Obviously, I can’t keep that up for long.

I do my best to try to make being one of my Patrons into something fun—Patrons get access to exclusive NSFW art, special monthly pin-ups based on the comic pages, behind the scenes stuff like script pages, prose short stories, badges for Disqus Avatars—but ultimately the real reason to support via Patreon is because you believe in what we’re doing here and want to see it continue.

I always have a hard time asking for help. I know I should probably have spoken up sooner. I’d much rather spend my time giving you guys awesome stuff — awesome stories and awesome art, in particular — than asking for support. But this is getting to a point where it’s a becoming a question of sustainability. And when I’ve asked before, y’all have always stepped up.

So, I’m asking. If you are enjoying this comic, and want it to continue, please consider becoming a Patron.

$5/month is what most folks pledge at—I think it’s the most sustainable for folks, so it’s where I put most of the rewards—and that level of support makes a huge difference. But anything helps.

And because I can’t resist creating something for y’all, I have specially commissioned a NSFW pin-up from Travis G. Moore, a comic book artist whose titles include Batman, Nightwing, Fables, and JSA All-Stars. I really enjoy his work, think he’s a great fit for The Young Protectors, and let him know he could draw any characters he wanted. His choice? Kyle and Anaado, fully nude, sunbathing in Hell.

Here’s a sneak preview:

There’s obviously a lot more to this image. And I’ve just set it up as a Patreon Milestone Goal. If we hit the halfway point — $6,500/month — I’ll release the full pin-up for all Patrons to download that month. Just something fun to share as a way to say thank you for helping me get the comic back on track. 🙂

Anyway, thank you for your patience in listening to me about this. It’s a little bit of a scary moment for me, but y’all have always amazed me with your generosity and enthusiasm for this work. You’re all truly superheroes. And it is an honor to be able to create stories for you.

So! Spooky says he never wanted to leave. Anaado thinks he’s lying. Who’s right? Could they both be? And if so, how are they going to figure this out and save themselves from becoming frozen dinners?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 🙂
