A bunch of rabid minions bursting out of an old timey saloon carrying medieval shields. Okay…

So!
So! The magic energy grid just spit Flyboy out like used chewing tobacco. And that was after it had delivered a nasty shock. Flyboy was barely able to keep himself from going splat on the parking lot cement. And now it looks like The Man has a few friends fiercely eager to get to know our gravity-defying boy!
Is Mitch going to be ok? Will he be able to recover in time to fly away from those angry minions? And if not, what will they do to him?
Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀
If Mitch starts talking in a Kentucky accent, I’m out.
I wonder about those shields…
ah, an “oh shyster!” moment?
More like “Ah’m nigh invulnerable when ah’m blastin’.”
I don’t think I get the reference. Why would a Kentucky accent be a risk?
As I hinted upthread, Sam “Cannonball” Gothrie of the New Mutants.
Well, I’m glad that I was wrong about the fire net being sticky. But now Mitch’s arm is blue-flaring again, which means he’s still in pain. I’m beginning to wonder if the blue fire is prompted by encounters with bad-guy magicks?
I’m completely puzzled by the violet shields. They might provide protection against normal gunfire, but they look like they’d be useless in a magical battle. I’m going to have to assume that they act quite differently from normal shields but still provide protections somehow.
Wait wait wait. What’s the deal with the bird in panel 2? It’s inside the net! Why didn’t it get fry-bounced? Are the birds illusionary? Or did the net ignore the birds because the net didn’t perceive them as a threat? If so, is that something the heroes can exploit?
(Edit: hmm. Actually, the bird ought to be closer to us than Mitch is and outside the net. And the light posts seems similarly confused over which side of the net they ought to be on.)
If you look at the previous pages, you will see that that bird is a sign atop the gate.
Awww shoot, Mitch’s arm is glowing again. and what an inconvenient time to fall unconscious D:
Oh, you’re right. Sorry. I thought it was just one of the birds flying around. I guess it’s a logo of some kind.
Ah. Now I understand.
Hmm.
Yep. Luckily some nice minions are rushing over to help him out.
