There’s “charismatic bad guy.” And then there’s “just evil bad guy.” You’ve now crossed that line, dude.
HAPPY ANNOUNCEMENT: So… I kinda didn’t expect the comic to be at quite this dark a moment when I made this announcement, but we did need to take a little extra time with this epic battle scene, which hopefully y’all have liked. (Even if we all are quite nervous for Mitch right now.) And remember, this is only Chapter 3 of 5, so there’s still lots more story to come.
What I wanted to tell you, though, is that I’m getting married! Things were definitely touch and go with the pandemic (and we had to cancel our wedding plans last June), but this month it’s all systems go. And it’s finally happening!
Many of you have already met Fernando when he’s helped me table at conventions (back when we could do that). We’ve been together for over 10 years and he’s the best thing in my life. If folks are interested, when I get back, maybe I can share a few pictures.
But in the meantime, I just wanted to let you know that, due to the festivities, I’ll be taking the next two weeks off. Our next posting will not be this Saturday, but rather on Wednesday, June 30. And then we’ll be back to our usual twice-a-week schedule where we will finish up the last pages of this chapter.
Hopefully, y’all have been finding these pages thrilling. Certainly linework artist Adam DeKraker and colorist Veronica Gandini have been hitting each one out of the park! I look forward to showing you the exciting conclusion of Chapter 3 when I return!
Please note: These are work-in-progress colors. Vero should get me the final colors soon.

So!
So! Flyboy is hurt. Very badly. Spooky cushioned his fall with his magic, but Mitch still has a freakin’ steel pole in his chest!
What can Spooky do? Will he be able to heal him? Will The Man even give him a chance to heal him? And what about Amanda? Will she be ok? Is this game over for our heroes?
Tune in Wednesday, June 30th, to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀
And Happy Pride, y’all! Have a great June!
You know, you totally made my cry here, Alex I had no time to check last week’s preview (and honestly I was a bit scrared for what to come) and JEEEZ all that blood and Mitch’s expression, I’m dying
Noping all the nopes, here.
As someone who has had an object nearly pierce through his body, this part is giving me a lot of different emotions. I really hope he doesn’t die that way, but at the same time, surviving can be worse.
Surviving with one lung and losing his abilities you mean? Yeah, horrid nightmare, especially for a teen.
Is it just me or does anyone else want “Shades” dead?
While the physical effects would certainly be a part of it, I was referring to the greater mental health implications of surviving such a trauma.
I’m sorry, Nadin. But have courage! There is still one hero standing, and where there is Spooky, there is always hope!
…oh man i am STEAMING. and so worried!!! this is terrible!!! (and somehow also amazing to experience it page by page…)
Terrible and an amazing experience. Just what I was going for here.
