SO!

So! What are those rectangular, flying things? Did the artifact make them? And OMG — did The Platinum Priestess just get free?! And, if so, what will she do with her new-found freedom?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

Dammit, Corwin! What did Random say about leaving your deck lying around?

  2. What I really want to know is What sick mind ever thought that 100 mirrors or portals or whatever the flying objects are would be magically useful to any user? Furthermore, if this is the fabled Sphere Celestial, what purpose could it serve other than to create about a 1/2 mile of stupid destruction? Clearly , the inventor or creator of this little piece of magical {expletive deleted} nonsense had to have a few screws loose if not be permanently deranged. Hopefully, that person died before reproducing themselves.

  3. NO, no, no! PP must not be set free! Portals? Hundreds of them? What fractured universe is this? I echo Dave’s sentiments in this. Who or rather why? Why?

  4. Avatar for dswxyz dswxyz says:

Okay, portals, is it? And Priestess is free? I’ll guess that she’ll decide that survival is more important than revenge and pause just long enough to curse Spooky before using her acrobatic skills to jump into a friendly portal, and return to fight some other day.

Assuming the Priestess successfully makes her escape, what will Spooky do next? He’s just seen a portal to Hell! Will he be so reckless to just jump through it without any preparations or checking in with Mitch and Cory or doing anything about the threat that these flying portals themselves pose?

I really hope he can do something to stabilize the situation, make sure all the children are safe, wait for the rest of the team to show up and then decide how to use these portals.

Unfortunately, assuming this is the way the story will continue, this still won’t tell us what the Priestess and the crazies were trying to do, why they chose the site of Spooky’s previous memory loss, or who the crazies’ “master” is.

No, it can’t go as simply as that. It’s more likely somebody (choose who! maybe two!) will accidentally get “gobbled” up by a portal to who-knows-where, adding an unexpected twist to this story.

There’s also a possibility that a tamed portal cluster will be a nice way of getting all those kids home. Like, what if the portals somehow know where a viewer wants to go and offer that destination to the viewer?

  5. omg they are portals?!?! So many and they all seem to lead elsewhere >/////<
Also Sircea is free… just where is this all leading D:

  6. Whoa, indeed. Alternate title page: “Now you’re playing with portals.” And the portals themselves are flying around, which isn’t fair at all >:(

  7. I wasn’t familiar with The Chronicles of Amber before your post. Do you recommend it?

In fairness, it is broken and not being used as intended.

We do know that Spooky can be impulsive.

And all your speculation is, as always, excellent.

To the exciting conclusion of Chapter One, of course!

Flying around very quickly, in fact!

  8. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

It’s a bit tough to get into, and the first series is much better than the second,

Roger’s a bit of an acquired taste, as well. I would actually suggest starting with one of his standalone books, like Lord of Light and A Night In The Lonesome October. If you like those, you’ll probably like the Amber books.

  9. Good tips, Nate. Thank you.
